Video from the 1986 Andrés Segovia masterclass final student recital at USC, Bovard Auditorium. Please excuse the low volume and the sketchy video editing. That's the way it came! Playing my old 1976 Miguel Rodriguez churchdoor guitar, "La Guinavera".

Way too fast, and a lack of expression.
Good to see / hear a Philip Woodfield guitar being played to its fullest :)
Gran Interpretación.
Superbly. Wspaniale. Nadherně.
I like the interpretation, although it's not how I envisage and play the piece myself. It's so rubato and rather slow, as if it's more of a romantic composer :)
.
Magnifique interprétation ! Merci !
How rude of that person whoever open and closed a door! Lack of respect for such a talented artist like Scott.
Bellísimo
Love it Scott. Because I dont know anything about the genre, I dont much insightful to say except the music is simply beautiful. Thanks!
Maestro!! I love your book!!
Beautiful I wish I could play like him
I’m not the only one that doesn’t play the ending as written ;) Brilliant performance as always!
Where can I find tabs or sheet music
So beautiful Scott
Amazing👍

This helped resolve a carpel tunnel issue years ago. That with cayenne pepper pills.
First! (8 years hence). How is that possible? This is completely absorbing and fascinating. Found it while browing through all the non-Tennant mediocre yet well-meaning performances of Head's Fanfare, and hope to add my own amateur performance someday soon as well. I wish the instrument had more writers like Head. Maybe there are, but not knowing about them doesn't help.
And this really IS a plainte.
This reminds me why I fell in love with the classical guitar. Thank you Scott!
Bravo! Scott makes most players sound like they are playing in a closet.
Un merveilleux guitariste et un merverlleux morceau !
I have a question please.. For the quarter beat in 165 bpm I do part to of the section good to make it better like at the bock play it 165 for eighth notes how its possible to pracrice..the way i should?thanx..
Nice too hear a new arrangement thx scott
I come back to this on a regular basis. I consider this to be so masterfully played. The timbre, the timing, the clarity, the note length, it just keeps making me happy. Thank you.
My Gentle Harp was lovely, the Wild Mountain Thyme was almost a throw away, certainly in comparison to Scott's earlier YT recording of this lovely trad song
This is very beautiful performance 🎶🎸
Beautiful!!!
❤
Marvellous and mellifluous
Beautiful!
Just "Magic" Bravo Scott.
AMAZING!!!
De Visee was an unheralded genius. Very nicely done, Mr. Tennant. Thank you.
Beautiful. It touched my heart.
Beautiful
Very nice. Not too many French pieces out there. Great playing ( as always ), nice guitar and recording sound as well. Is that an internal microphone or pickup I see peeking out of the bottom of the sound hole? I am curious as I'm sort of stuck in the " thirty years ago " technology of using an internal sort of laminated L.R Baggs bridge " bone " pickup ( not the under saddle ribbon type ) in tandem with a pretty good German ( Beyer SM 44 ? ) microphone ( stand mounted ), but am not always happy with the balance between the trebles and basses. Counterintuitively, the trebles are a little too loud, and cannot be separated from the bass signal. I have yet to find a good internal mic that I like?? Were you recording with a room microphone that is not visible in the video here? I heard it snowed on the Golden Gate bridge today. Pretty strange. Hope all is well.
I find it a little too fast but that’s a wonderful piece
Curiously, I've just been hammering away on this same piece recently. I thought it would be a lot easier than it is to memorize. Scarlatti has a way of using an " antecedent " several different ways harmonically, then following them with differing " consequents ". Makes it feel like you're lost in a neighborhood with a bunch of cul de sacs when you try and play it back sans print music.. until it's thoroughly memorized. I was working from an old Carlos Barbossa-Lima transcription which looks quite similar to this. It said " allegro "; I'll have to take another look at my metronome as this looks more allegro, downright snappy, than I was playing it..another couple of sessions with a little stronger coffee perhaps? Thanks for a fine job and nice multi-angle recording, Scott.
👏👏👏👏
Looks like Parkening is there too.
Dusting off this sonata recently and just can’t get enough of this interpretation and your effortless playing! Thank you, sensei. You’re amazing
How does Scott Tennant hold the guitar in this position? I don't get it.
Non-slip pad underneath.
the old flamenco style to hold the guitar
Bravo!!
Superbe arrangement. Bravissimo !
What exactly the beat is??
It’s easier to ask which one “isn’t” it! It rapidly cycles between 5/8, 3/4, 4/4, 2/4, 3/8, 6/8 - did I miss any? Not quite sure what such a technically complex piece is doing in the opening chapter of a technique book though???
I got lost in my question haha sorry..11 month
Un grand maître que j adore
It’s magic! Thanks.
Fantastic!
So sweet. Loved it Scott. Was always a great melody.
I wonder if anyone could help me. I am looking at the music for this and trying to add up the notes in the bars to make up the 5 8th notes but it doesn't seem to add up.. Do I only count the notes with stems pointing up.. or do I count also the notes with stems pointing down to reach the total of 5 8th notes in a bar?
